26 Nov Eight-Week Fitness Challenge Concludes With Strong Participation
An eight-week group fitness challenge aimed at rebuilding confidence, improving physical health, and supporting personal well-being concluded this month, drawing strong participation from teens and adults. The programme focused on helping attendees re-establish positive fitness habits while tracking progress through milestone assessments at weeks one, four and eight, culminating in a graduation event with a confidence-building board break.

“I always enjoy it and the camaraderie, the way everyone supports each other, is very motivating.” Says Jo Dunkerley, fitness challenge participant twice over.
Participants trained in a supportive community alongside like-minded individuals, guided by experienced Martial Arts instructors who worked out alongside them. The sessions offered a holistic and mentally engaging approach, combining fitness with practical self-defence training. Attendees reported increases in body confidence, cardiovascular fitness and overall well-being, as well as the chance to build friendships and strengthen community ties.
The challenge provided unlimited access to the Hunter Fight Fit programme for a fee of $250, with a discounted rate of $50 for existing HVMAC members. Designed for teens and adults, the programme also welcomed parents who wished to train alongside their children.
Modelled on Muay Thai and Kickboxing, the Fight Fit curriculum targets those seeking a practical self-defence system and an effective full-body workout without the traditional rituals of karate. The focus on muscle tone, core strength, cardio fitness and self-defence make it a popular choice for beginners wanting to achieve significant physical improvements.
Organisers emphasised motivation, energy and personal support throughout the eight weeks, aiming to help participants move toward a leaner, healthier and more confident version of themselves.
For those who preferred other training styles, the challenge also allowed unlimited participation in alternative programmes, including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Chitokai Karate, ensuring a diverse range of options for fitness enthusiasts.
The success of the event has sparked interest in future challenges, with many participants expressing enthusiasm about continuing their training journeys. If you are interested in participating in the next one, you can learn more and enquire here!
