14 Dec HVMAC Attends Newcastle Inclusive Community Sports Day
Hunter Valley Martial Arts Centre will be providing free introduction sessions at Newcastle Inclusive Community Sports Day on Friday, 12th of January 2024 from 9:30am-1:30am at Gateshead Indoor Sports.
People with disability and their families are invited to come and try a range of accessible sport and recreation activities in a supportive community and environment. Sensei Kelie Fisher will be running karate sessions, so come along with your friends, family and try a range of inclusive activities in your community.
“Sensei Kelie and I attended Newcastle’s first Inclusive Community Sports Day event which was hosted at the University of Newcastle in October this year. We had a lot of fun with the different groups that came in, teaching self defence techniques and escapes, and standing strong, adapting the exercises to people of ranging abilities from wheel-chair bound to non-verbal autistic for example. They left our lesson with smiles on their faces as well some self defence tips which was the aim for the day.” Says Sensei Anna Hayes
