Move Better, Feel Stronger: Why Yoga Belongs in Your Training Routine

Move Better, Feel Stronger: Why Yoga Belongs in Your Training Routine

At Hunter Martial Arts, we’re big on movement with purpose and that’s exactly why Yoga has found its place on our mats.

So… What Is Yoga?

Yoga is more than just stretching.

It’s a practice that works on multiple levels:

  • Physical movement — building strength, balance, and flexibility
  • Breath control — learning how to use your breath to support movement
  • Mental stillness — developing focus and clarity

It’s not about how bendy you are. It’s about how well you can connect your body and mind—and that’s something everyone can improve.

What to Expect in Class

You’ll be moving.

Our Yoga classes are designed so everyone can get involved, with beginner through to advanced options offered throughout. The focus is simple—listen to your body and choose what works for you.

Here’s how it flows:

  • Movement linked with breath (this is where the magic happens)
  • Options and variations so you can work at your level
  • Moments of stillness to reset and refocus
  • A proper wind-down at the end with deeper stretching and relaxation

It’s the kind of session where you walk out feeling like you’ve done something… but also like you’ve hit reset.

Bec also runs the class in a relaxed, interactive, workshop-style format—so if you’ve ever wanted to actually understandwhat you’re doing (instead of just copying the person next to you), you’re in the right place.

Got questions? Ask them. Want to improve your movement? You’ll get the help to do it.

Quick tip: we generally move for most of the class, so come hydrated and bring a drink for after.

Meet Your Instructor: Bec

Bec is a 3rd Dan in Karate and a qualified Speech Pathologist, who completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2025. She brings a unique mix of technical understanding, real-world movement experience, and a genuine passion for helping people improve.

Her approach is simple: Yoga should support you—your goals, your training, your life.

Whether you’re on the mats every week or just starting out, she’ll meet you where you’re at and help you move forward.

What to Wear and Bring

Keep it simple:

  • Wear something comfortable you can move in (Gi pants work great)
  • No mat needed—we’ve got full-floor mats ready to go
  • Got yoga props like a block? Bring them along if you like
  • A towel is optional for floor-based poses

No fuss. No overthinking it.

Why You Should Jump In

If you’re already training, Yoga will help you recover better, move better, and train longer.

If you’re not? This is one of the best places to start.

It’s low-impact, scalable to your level, and builds a foundation that carries over into everything else—whether that’s martial arts, fitness, or just everyday life.

And honestly? Most people don’t realise how much they need it until they try it.

Ready to Try?

You don’t need experience.
You don’t need flexibility.
You just need to show up. Our Yoga classes are currently run on Saturdays and sessions are about progress, not perfection—and giving you the tools to move, breathe, and think a little better every time you step on the mat.

Come along and see what it’s all about.
